Do I need a South-facing roof for Solar Panels?

Solar Panels work well on any roof facing South, South East or South West. Although your Solar Panels will perform better and produce more electricity if they are South facing, they will still perform at 86% either facing due East or West.

How much roof space do I need for Solar Panels?

Solar Panels can be fitted to your roof or on your land. Generally, an 8-panel Solar PV system would be one of the smallest we recommend, and this could easily fit on the roof of an average 3-bed semi. Our popular panels generate the most energy per m2 so you can still get plenty of electricity from a smaller roof.

How long does it take to install my Solar system?

Most domestic Solar Panel installations take no more than a day with minimum disruption. Typically, the scaffolding will be erected a couple of days before our installation team arrive. We will then mount the panels on the roof and install the inverter, batteries and EV charger if ordered. Finally carrying out the internal wiring.

Do I need constant sunshine for my Solar Panels to work?

Solar Panels work in all daylight conditions and at their optimum at 10ºc. They even work in the snow.

Do I need planning permission?

Planning permission is not required unless your property is listed.

How much will I save?

We always want our customers to achieve the maximum savings possible, and every Fit Solar customer sees a reduction in their electricity bill, but the total savings depend on your choice of installation, usage and time of day.

Can I have a battery added to my existing system?

Yes, we supply and install batteries to any system not installed by us without affecting your current Feed In Tariff.

Any issues or queries were answered very quickly and they've done a tidy job. The quality of materials used is better than some others for example the bird guards are metal rather than plastic. I much preferred using a local installer rather than a national company for the quality of installation and follow up. Recommended local company for solar installation.

  • I was recommended by a friend to approach FitSolar for a quote to install a ten-panel solar system having already obtained quotes from four other local and national firms. Mark Chandler came out to our property to offer friendly advice with no pressure on committing to going ahead with an installation. Mark was very patient in providing a number of quotes for different variations including whether to include batteries to the system or not and how many. The quote that we proceeded on was I consider a fair price, not the cheapest and not the dearest. The installation was carried out by friendly employees, and nothing was to much trouble re agreeing how and where to install the panels and batteries. After the installation ‘both’ Marks visited to inspect the installation and to explain how to manage and monitor the panels and the energy they provide. They mentioned that they monitor all their customers systems, so should an issue arise, which is not expected, they would pick it up before the customer. Highly recommended.
